Somalia's deputy PM says appointed as acting prime minister

Somalia's Deputy Prime Minister Mahdi Mohammed Gulaid has announced his appointment as the interim prime minister following the vote of no confidence against the previous head of government, Hassan Ali Khaire.

Earlier, the country's parliament ousted Khaire by a vote of no confidence.

Mahdi Mohammed Gulaid  is the Acting Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia and the former Deputy Prime Minister from 21st of March, 2017 to the 25th of July 2020.

Somalia, officially the Federal Republic of Somalia, is a sovereign country in the Horn of Africa. It is bordered by Ethiopia to the west, the Gulf of Aden to the north, the Guardafui Channel and Somali Sea to the east, and Kenya to the southwest. Somalia has the longest coastline on Africa's mainland.
