World Refugee Day, international observance observed June 20 each year, is dedicated to raising awareness of the situation of refugees throughout the world.

On 4 December 2000, the United Nations General Assembly in Resolution 55/76 decided that, from 2000, 17 June would be celebrated as World Refugee Day.

 In this resolution, the General Assembly noted that 2001 marked the 50th anniversary of the 1951 Convention relating to the Status of Refugees

African Refugee Day had been formally celebrated in several countries prior to 2000.

The UN noted that the Organization of African Unity (OAU) had agreed to have International Refugee Day coincide with Africa Refugee Day on 20 June.

Each year on June 20 the United Nations, United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) and countless civic groups around the world host World Refugee Day events in order to draw the public's attention to the millions of refugees and Internally displaced persons worldwide who have been forced to flee their homes due to war, conflict and persecution.

 The theme for World Refugee Day 2018 is: ‘Now More Than Ever, We Need to Stand with Refugees’.

28th Plenary Meeting of the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) was held in Jūrmala, Latvia between 14th and 15th June 2018

The NSG plenary meeting was chaired by Ambassador Jānis Zlamets of Latvia

 last meeting was held in Bern in 2017

one of the points discussed was to continue to consider the implementation of the 2008 Statement on Civil Nuclear Cooperation with India and discussed the relationship with India

The Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) is a multilateral export control regime and a group of nuclear supplier countries that seek to prevent nuclear proliferation by controlling the export of materials, equipment and technology that can be used to manufacture nuclear weapons.

The NSG was founded in response to the Indian nuclear test in May 1974 and first met in November 1975.

A series of meetings in London from 1975 to 1978 resulted in agreements on the guidelines for export; these were published as INFCIRC/254  by the International Atomic Energy Agency.

these guidelines are known as the Zangger "Trigger List"

    This comes as the country seeks to make up for its rapidly ageing population and declining workforce.
    Japan is to relax visa requirements in sectors facing severe labour shortages such as nursing care, agriculture, construction and transport.
    It will also start accepting highly skilled professionals.
    However, workers would only be allowed to stay in the country for up to five years as visitors, not as immigrants.
    Also, their family members would not be allowed to accompany them.
    The number of foreign workers in Japan has nearly doubled over the past five years to 1.28 million last year.
