Defending champions India will take on Sri Lanka in their opening encounter at South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Cup in Dhaka .
India, currently ranked 96 in the latest FIFA rankings, has been on the winning side 15 times against Sri Lanka out of the 22 face-offs so far.
India has won the title of this regional tournament seven times out of 11 earlier editions.
The other countries in the tournament are Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Maldives.
The 2018 SAFF Championship will be the 12th edition of the SAFF Championship, the biennial international men's football championship of South Asia organized by SAFF.
It was scheduled to be hosted by Bangladesh from 4–15 September 2018
This will be the third time that Bangladesh will host, after victory in the 2003 edition and semi finalists in 2009.
