International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons

On September 26, the United Nations (UN) promotes a special day that calls for all countries to get rid of nuclear weapons.

 In 2013, United Nations General Assembly declared 26 September as International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons. It has been observed every year since 2014.

it aims to create public awareness on nuclear disarmament matters, educate people on the potential threat by nuclear weapons and the need for their total elimination.

 Member States of United Nations, non-governmental organizations, academicians, politicians, mass media and individuals are involved to create awareness on this issue.

One of the UN's oldest goals is to achieve worldwide nuclear disarmament

The Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons is one of the UN's efforts to seek more action on nuclear disarmament.
