A Malaria Summit was held in London, UK on April 18, 2018 to step up action and announce new commitments in the fight against Malaria.

The summit was hosted by ‘Malaria No More’, a non-profit organization

The Summit was held alongside 25th Commonwealth Heads of State and Government Meeting (CHOGM) meeting in London.

 a landmark £2.9bn ($4.1bn) commitment was made to invest in ridding the Commonwealth of malaria.

The collective commitments were made at the Malaria Summit London 2018, held the day before the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting. The event was hosted by the Governments of Rwanda, Swaziland and the United Kingdom, and was attended by  Prince of Wales, Bill Gates, the Heads of State and Government and Ministers of 19 Commonwealth countries, as well as business leaders, philanthropists, scientists and civil society.

Malaria is a mosquito-borne infectious disease affecting humans and other animals caused by parasitic protozoans (a group of single-celled microorganisms) belonging to the Plasmodium type.

The disease is most commonly transmitted by an infected female Anopheles mosquito
