Australian PM Scott Morrison won federal elections

Prime Minister Scott Morrison's Liberal-National Coalition won the federal elections.

Prime Minister Morrison has declared victory after his coalition defied opinion polls and secured a surprise win over the opposition Labor Party.

The polling held yesterday for all 151 seats in the House of Representatives.

Australia has mandatory voting for people aged 18 and over.

Scott John Morrison is an Australian politician serving as Prime Minister of Australia and Leader of the Liberal Party since 2018. He served as Treasurer of Australia from 2015 to 2018. Morrison was first elected Member of Parliament for Cook in 2007.
